The ketogenic diet corrects metabolic hypogonadism and preserves pancreatic ß-cell function in overweight/obese men: a single-arm uncontrolled study - PMC

For overweight and obese men who have hypogonadism - a medical condition in which the body’s sex glands (the gonads — testes in males, ovaries in females) produce little or no sex hormones.

In men:

  • It results in low testosterone levels and can cause symptoms such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, and infertility.

  • Causes may be primary (testicular failure) or secondary (pituitary or hypothalamic dysfunction).

(In women;

  • It involves low estrogen and progesterone production, leading to irregular or absent menstrual periods, infertility, and menopausal symptoms.

I wonder if this would help women too.)
